This is actually an ask for some assistance folks. I have some fcstd files that require conversion to stl, I have never used freecad, I have solidworks, navis works. I worked in the oil and gas industry in Alberta Canada for 30 years, so I am kind of brainwashed as to learning new software.
On another note, I have been 3D printing with my little ender 3 for 4 years, from medical braces to cookie cutters, using a multitude of materials. Feel free to ask me questions, I may be able to offer some insite or even help with settings
no other software, including online converter supports fcstd file. so you have to take support from someone who use freecad. Or you can do it yourself, FreeCAD is an open source free software. afterall if you want me to do that then you have to pay for that, i will handle all these process.
Thanks
FreeCad is free, so no investment needed to install it.
The trick is to open the file, select the elements to be exported (like any parametric design it might have a tree of operations, bodies and various extrusions for any given part, you might export them all in a single STL block or choose to export only some) in your case in STL format, and export it wit standard parameters or you might choose different parameters.
I bet you will learn how to do it within one hour or two if you come from parametric design software anyway.
YouTube tutorials and GrabCad tutorials can also help. Find some.
Thank you for the advice, I do have the program downloaded, Im just totally unfamiliar with it. The time it will take for me to learn the new software isn't really worth it for 10 drawings and something I will never use myself. But again, I do thank you for the instructions, be safe gentlemen.
My advice .stl is old and crappy format, use .3mf instead that is suported by all modern 3D printers ;0)
