Hello everybody, grabcad has announced a competition https://grabcad.com/challenges/grundfos-challenge-design-and-develop-a-gear-unit-for-a-hydronic-valve I cannot able to understand what's this challenge is all about. I am so confused and couldn't able to make problem definition clear. Can anyone help me in understanding this challenge.
Thanks.
Yep, I noticed. Link might have been changed. Do you have any idea for this challenge.
Just a heads up, the link changed again! As far as my understanding of the challenge goes it looks like they want a gearbox to use for some sort of water heating/cooling valve setup. It looks like they're trying to get some new ideas for their product line? A keyword search for "valve" on their products page didn't have anything that looks like the challenge to me. Looks like a pretty neat though, I'm going to try to give it a shot; thanks for the heads up!
Ok, but what are the criteria like those gear arrangements are to be made. Should they transmit the torque, speed from motor to the output shaft as given in graph of specification or anything else. Thanks for overall idea. I would like to go deep and give it a try.
Thanks again.
I think the graph is for the input motor and there is just the given tolerances for the output but I'm not positive, it seems a little vague. Seems like a pretty complicated challenge, especially given the time constraints to finish! Good luck!
I agree that the challenge hasn't been very clear at the beginning. But after Grundfos has commented a lot of things, the task was pretty straight defined. So it took me a long time to understand all details and I could design the gearbox in 4 days after that.
