My stuff is already published on Odyssee through BLC.
It could be auto-tagged by our system if it includes certain words like weapon or ammo or bullet. I just manuall unhidden them now.
Thanks Yasin. Is there anything I can do on my end to avoid this going forward? Remove tags, change titles, etc?

Hello everyone, I have the same problem. What is the latest solution for this?

I am having the same, just found many of my models from years ago are no longer available due to "violations of community guidelines" out of nowhere.
How exactly is an Ah-64 helicopter, ME-163 and the list goes on and on a violation????
The site cannot block trash users trying to sell models yet blocks long term users............................
Think it is time to go.
I agree with you, Halcyon. If things continue like this and the problem isn’t resolved by the end of this year, I will delete all of my 3D models from the site and stop sharing here. While I could choose to sell my 3D models on other platforms, I’ve been sharing them here for free. Some of my models that were completely fine at the time I uploaded them are now suddenly flagged for violating community guidelines. I mean, what could possibly be the issue with a conveyor model?
If GrabCAD doesn’t resolve this issue in a fair and reasonable way, I will remove all of my 3D models from the platform and encourage other users to do the same. If a rule is to be enforced, it should be applied logically and equally to everyone. And if new rules are going to be applied retroactively, then older models should at least be reviewed individually. How can we be sure that the models we upload today won’t be hidden in the future because of yet another rule change? This kind of approach is both unreasonable and undermines trust.
We use our profiles on this platform as a reference in our professional careers. An unreliable environment could cause problems for us in the future.
Anything can be 3D printed, or most things can be CNC machined, a model is a model, I can 3D print a rock and use it as a weapon.
FYI: Our teams have recently updated our guidelines regarding weapons:
https://help.grabcad.com/article/149-community-values-and-guidelines?locale=en
> 10. Do not upload dangerous content. We consider "dangerous" any models that, when manufactured, could cause physical harm to others. This includes firearm and knife designs that can be produced using additive, subtractive or formative manufacturing methods - that means 3D printing, CNC machining, casting, stamping, forging or any similar process. It also includes individual firearm parts such as lower receivers, silencers, gun barrels, drop-in sears and fire control components. Any assemblies or modifications that significantly increase a weapon's lethality or concealment - including full-auto conversions - are also not allowed. Models that violate this rule may be removed from the Library or excluded from search results.
“…could cause physical harm…” That’s quite ambiguous. Just about everything could cause harm if used the wrong way so this isn’t going to specifically target weapons which seems to be what you’re after. Since it doesn’t specifically target weapons, that means you must subjectively and selectively apply this rule to apply to weapons. You’re going to get a lot of pushback on this.
Aren’t you really after things that are “intended to cause harm”.
[edit] And why say “Models that violate this rule may be removed…”? Either enforce the rule or don't have the rule at all.
So what determines the manufacturability of a CAD model? This seems like a lot of unnecessary words to say "no guns, no knives".
Manufacturability could be determined as a complex of different attributes like these:
1) existence and precise dimensions of critical parts like firing pin, barrel, trigger group or bolt;
2) assembling instructions;
3) manufacturing specs like material properties, heat treatment, etc.
"Could be determined"
You are the guys who wrote these rules. I'm asking you guys explicitly what YOU (GrabCAD) are determining, not what you COULD determine...
As it stands, every single model on GrabCAD is manufacturable with a 3D printer at minimum. Take for instance a knife: Traditionally, it's a sharpened flat plate of steel. You could absolutely print a plastic knife that would still function as a knife, even if the mechanical properties are inferior to a traditional knife.
So by your definition, ALL knife designs are dangerous because when manufactured, "could cause physical harm to others."
So again...This is just a lot of words to say "no guns, no knives". Why not just come out and say it/enforce it, so those in the community that share these types of models know where they stand and can migrate from the platform accordingly?
"Why not just come out and say it/enforce it"
We do not want functional guns or knives manufactured using models from the GrabCAD Community. It is now stated in the Guidelines. As a member of the Community and a firearms designer (according to your profile) you are able to proceed with any of the following options:
"We do not want functional guns or knives manufactured using models from the GrabCAD Community."
This gets even more ambiguous...I could go through the effort of making deliberate changes to any model I download from GrabCAD to make it functional. I used a GrabCAD model to do so...Who's violating the rules? The uploader, or the downloader?
Worse, you're now stating that you're leaving it up to the community to report models...Why are you not taking responsibility for enforcing your own rules?
If you want me to help you improve your guidelines, I wouldn't even start with rule 10....I would first tell you to clean up the fraud on the website, such as stolen and reuploaded work, massive catalogs of OEM parts reuploaded by random users, spammers, scammers, members who only upload renderings and no models, etc.
I'm pretty confident that the reason your team won't outright actively enforce ANY of these rules is because you'd obliterate the traffic to the site and be left with the remnants of the old members that still upload quality material.
So it's been two weeks...Why is this the typical modus operandi of GC staff to just ghost concerned (and dedicated) members of this site? I'm engaging the conversation in good faith. I'm making an effort to be compliant, and I am met with silence any time I raise assertive criticism on any topic...You guys should've never sold out to Stratasys. It was truly your downfall as a community-oriented site. I hope your souls were worth the corporate payout.
Volodimir and Steven, as always is a matter of money ... just that. Money in terms of ads posted by Google. As they rules are being enforced, I decided I'm abandoning Grabcad after so many years. I'll make and maintain my own portfolio, as freely as usual. Check github for that.
I just wiped my account. Half of it was already blocked anyway...And the funny part is that they blocked the models with the least amount of detail...lol
