Hi, I need help with this arc in the drawing. I'm using Solidworks and I can't get it to extrude with varying thickness. Thank you!!
It's not complicated. The procedure is as follows: 1) I create a sketch of a groove 12 mm long, 2) I create a reference surface perpendicular to the original one and in alignment with the axis of symmetry of the part, 3) I draw a groove 20 mm wide on this reference surface, 4) then I create a curve on the surface perpendicular to the two previous planes indicating the shape of the part, 5) I use the command "add profile connection" (SW2018), where I mark two sketches and a guiding curve. This will create a part with variable thickness. The rest is obvious. I can share the model.
Hi Anandhu,
Use Loft Command with Guide Curves.
See the attached Screenshots for your reference.
Hi ANANDHU if it is a real drawing for manufacturing especially if is from casting , your drawing should be a little bit better because you cant assemble it in future. You should control position of connection pieces between each other (in your case this is holes) and calculate position tolerance for it ...
This is in case if it's real manufacturing drawing ...
thanks for the help, I got it now. earlier I was trying with a swept boss instead of the loft boss.
thanks for the advice but I'm actually just practicing these to improve my cad skills. so these drawings are not mine I just saw them online and found them interesting . btw can you recommend any good source for 2d drawings for practicing or honing my skills
I see ...
Asme Y14,5 it is a major , and this also :

Enginnering its not about CAD )
Good Luck !)
Where do you come upon all these practice files that are not drawn to proper standards?
I have come up with a solution in Solidworks 2014:
https://grabcad.com/library/request-handle-1
that comes pretty close to the template. You need to construct extra guide curves to get the linear transition seen end-on.
Loft is not magical fix for everything , don't use it if you don't have to
This model is just couple of extruded arcs and fillet
