You can import the 2d drawing as a 'sketch picture' and trace over it, you can preset set the scale of the sketch to suit a single dimension from the original design or make it any size you want. superimpose the plan and elevations on the XYZ planes so they align then build your model over those sketch pictures. I have done this many times. You can build a solid model or use surfaces.

have a closer look at it, there isn't much organic to it, most of it is just extruded half hexagons with some draft angles and of course a lot of fillets, stay away form lofts if you don't need them

Hi Jack, can you please elaborate a bit more about this approach, and also, if possible, can you suggest any tutorial of it, as a reference.

under sketch tools near the bottom of the options you will find insert sketch picture. You can increase the transparency so your image is faint while you build the model then the images can be hidden. You put down a scale line of 38" then reduce the image file to fit the scale, same for the other views. You can then trace over the outline and build your model

I forgot to say you can import the drawing into paint and crop the views you need rather than insert the whole drawing like I have shown, that was just a demo. I would probably build a wireframe model and add surfaces then stitch them together and make a solid.

You can add planes at each change of section and build a cross section at each like an aircraft fuselage design then join the nodes to allow a surface to be created.
