Copy a sketch (or a body) in inventor

Hi everyone!
I'm designing some accessories for nerf guns (the famous toy guns).
I'm doing some different sights for the gun that attach snap on onto the body of the gun.
Since every sight will have the same base I would love to save the base scketch (or the entire body) on wich I will design the different sight.
Is there a way or I will need to redisign the same base everytime?

Thank you very much!

Hoi Davide,

You can save the base as a template.
Open a new part.
Draw the sketch or the intire body.
Save it as a template.
When you want to start designing,
just open the template and start from there designing.

Save the base part model or even just the model with sketch of the base. Create a new part for a sight and use the derive command to pull in the the base. You can pull in the base solid, the sketch, or both. Use the same base over and over to derive each new sight.

The advantage here over a template is any modifications you make to the base part will be reflected in every sight. For instance if you change a clearance on the base part all derived sights will automatically get the same adjustment. If you were just using a template, you would have to adjust each one individually.
