open each model in a different window, and then you can switch from one window to another

✅ Yes! SolidWorks has a built-in feature that allows switching between open models using tabs.

How to Enable and Use Tabs for Open Models in SolidWorks

Open Multiple Files: Open multiple parts (.SLDPRT), assemblies (.SLDASM), or drawings (.SLDDRW).

View Open Model Tabs: Look at the top bar above the graphics area—each open file appears as a tab.

Switch Models Using Tabs: Click on a tab to switch instantly between models.
Additional Methods to Navigate Open Files
🔹 Keyboard Shortcut: Use Ctrl + Tab to cycle through open models.
🔹 Window Menu: Go to Window in the top menu bar to see all open files.
🔹 Quick View: Right-click on any tab to close or switch files efficiently.

If Tabs Are Not Visible?

If you don’t see tabs for open models:

Go to Tools → Options → System Options.
Check Enable File Tab Display (Under "General").
Restart SolidWorks if necessary.

Difference from Inventor & Excel Tabs
Unlike Inventor, SolidWorks does not group multiple components of the same project into a single tabbed workspace.
Each open file has its own independent tab, similar to Excel but without sheet grouping.
