In terms of skills, I know the basics of Fusion 360 and AutoCAD, and I have started self-projects like crankshaft design, 4-stroke engine, Strandbeest mechanism, and drone frame design. I also learned that advanced skills such as FEA, CFD, and product design for manufacturing can significantly increase freelancing rates.

What would be the most practical roadmap of skills, portfolio projects, certifications, and freelancing strategies that would allow a mechanical engineering student like me (and others in a similar situation) to realistically achieve $5k+ per month within two years?
