How can a mechanical engineering student build the right skills and portfolio to earn $5,000+ per month from freelancing within two years?

I am currently in the 5th semester of my Mechanical Engineering degree and want to plan my career path strategically. My goal is to reach $5,000+ monthly income within two years after graduation by offering freelancing services related to mechanical design.
I have researched that platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, CadCrowd, and GrabCAD are popular for mechanical engineers. In terms of skills, I know the basics of Fusion 360 and AutoCAD, and I have started self-projects like crankshaft design, 4-stroke engine, Strandbeest mechanism, and drone frame design. I also learned that advanced skills such as FEA, CFD, and product design for manufacturing can significantly increase freelancing rates.
What would be the most practical roadmap of skills, portfolio projects, certifications, and freelancing strategies that would allow a mechanical engineering student like me (and others in a similar situation) to realistically achieve $5k+ per month within two years?
