A few additional details would help.
But...
You don't always need to use the mould surface tools to get to your mould design - in this case the part is very simple, why not just revelove the mould tool, as a multi-body part.
Checkout http://grabcad.com/library/model-aero-engine-crank-case-dfm this model is multi-body, it uses a combiantion of mould surfaces and combine features (boolean operations).

Very Good. Your split was in different plane to expected, you could make the split line easier to make - see attached - by using the top plane. From a design point of view, you would want to now add draft angle to the end faces as these have no draft on them.
