Can I follow a specific path for an open profile in sheet metal construction?

Contour Flange is quite different from the Contour Roll ...you might confused them a bit ...I am not sure... ;)
Following the description of what are you trying to do I can share with you the following steps.
In my model I use both of the commands to make easy for everyone to understand the difference

Step 1:
Draw your profile according to your dimensions
In case you want to use the Contour Roll as I will do later you have also to include your axis in the "SAME" sketch...

Step 2:
Click on the Contour flange if you just want to extrude your profile.
No circular paths ...just a straight extrusion. ;)
Inventor will allow you to choose among many options in the command dialogue as depicted below.

Step 3:
(Optional)
The solution for this particular question is limited on the second step.
However, I have attached as you can see a second figure showing a circular extrusion of the existing profile...The difference is quite obvious But the name of the two commands can easily trick you.
I mean speaking for myself I confused them a couple of times... ;PIf you found useful this answer...
