This tutorial will teach you how to convert STL graphics to a solid model in SOLIDWORKS. Try it. It worked for me!
Step 1: Open SOLIDWORKS
Start SolidWorks and click Open.
Step 2: Select File Type
Change file type to STL.
Step 3: Click Options
Click Options.
Step 4: Change Import As
Change import as to Solid body.
Step 5: Select STL file
Select STL file and click Open.
Step 6: STL file is updated
And we have STL file converted into Solid Body.
Great aid. Thank You!
Thanks. It works but I don't know why it changes all curves to many straight lines. do you have any idea?
Thank You. It is simple.
thanks a lot. It helped me
It was helpful , thank you
WOW THAT WAS EASY I BEEN TRYING TO CHANGE STL FILE FOR A LONG TIME THANK YOU
hi, thank you first, I followed the steps and an error came 'model exceeds dimensional limits'. Can you please guide to correct it? and that pop-up box won't close...!
Thank You!!!
@Pedram you get straight lines because an SLT is actually made up of millions of small straight lines which make facets. It is not a true 'CAD' format. It is more of a graphics sort of file type. (which just happens to be common for 3D printer slicing software programs to use.)
This was super helpful!!!
Is there a way I can import a mesh file(.stl) into Solidworks which has 1.8 million faces?
Thank you veeery much, you solve my problem.
@Tim Ganstrom is there a way to get rid of the lines? Cheers.
What do I do if Solidworks(2013 version) doesn't let me change to solid body? It only accepts graphic body. Thanks in advance!
Great. So simple. Thank you it worked out for me.
