It just takes a few minutes to draw a stick diagram and add a few dimensions and mates, and then animate the diagram to show how the parts move and interact with each other. (Of course we could make an assembly of fully detailed parts for a motion study, but that takes more time and more work) I first learned this technique with CATIA sketches, and it's just as useful with SolidWorks.
